The editorial team for the Bling! imprint of Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas

has been carefully assembled to represent the most professional and author-centric foundation

possible. As you will see from the member bios, there is several decades of cumulative

experience afforded to our growing list of Bling! authors … as well as to their readership.

Marisa Deshaies came to LPC as an intern, quickly progressing to the position of Publishing Assistant to the Managing Editor (and founder of Bling!), Sandie Bricker. When Sandie decided to take a step back and focus on her writing again, Marisa was the obvious choice to replace her.

Marisa can be summed up in one simple phrase: her life is a way with words. After earning a BA and MA in professional writing, she tailored her professional aspirations to fiction editing and book reviewing. Her favorite genres to read, review, and edit are contemporary and historical inspirational fiction, romance, and literature; however, she is always searching for new authors and genres because the power of a story can never be reserved for just one category. In addition to serving as a publishing assistant to the managing editor of Bling!, she is an editor for WhiteFire Publishing and Castle Gate Press. Marisa is a member of ACFW, for which she serves as a cluster leader and a judge for the First Impressions and Carol Award contests.

Rachel Overton has been editing, indexing and proofreading since 1993. She’s worked for such prestigious companies as Barbour Publishing, Summerside Press, Abingdon Press, and more. “I do my best to maintain an author’s voice and style,” she says, “while polishing the details and making the technical elements shine.” Rachel lives in northeast Ohio with her husband of nearly three decades and a college-aged daughter.

Connie Troyer has been working in publishing since 2000. After learning the ropes at Barbour Publishing – beginning as a freelance proofreader and ending as in-house Assistant Managing Editor – she became one of the main content and copy editors for Summerside Press’s popular Love Finds You line, editing more than half its titles. She’s also worked with publishing heavy-hitters such as Ellie Claire, Worthy Publishing and Guideposts. Her interests beyond editing are widespread, from missions to handicrafts and genealogy. Connie lives in Ohio’s beautiful Amish Country with her husband and two cats.

Jennifer Harshman was in third grade when her teacher pulled her aside, glanced around to make sure no one was paying attention to them, and whispered, “Will you please look this over for me and make sure there are no misspelled words or other mistakes in my writing?” It was then that Jennifer knew there was something remarkable about her abilities. Since then, she’s edited and proofread more than 10,000 pages, hundreds of articles and blog posts, and dozens of books. As of January 2015, the number of books she has read is more than 15,500, and the number grows daily. Jennifer Harshman home schools her children and is involved in her church and a local learning center. She shares her love of reading, writing, and editing online, especially on Facebook.

Mackenzie Jager is a senior Professional Writing major at Taylor University. She calls Holland, Michigan, her home, and if she’s not at the beach, you can find her reading, writing, baking, or crafting at home––most likely with her puppy nearby. As a writer, she blogs about life’s adventures and questions, and pours her dreams of magic into young adult fantasy novels. Editing brings her love of organization and storytelling together as she partners with authors to help them tell the best stories possible. After a summer internship with Lighthouse Publishing, she is thrilled to start her editing career with Bling! Romance.
